St Johnstone boss Tommy Wright would be keen for Matt Butcher to return to McDiarmid Park when football makes a comeback. The Bournemouth loan man was pencilled in for a Perth stay until the summer before the coronavirus outbreak shut down Premiership action.
Central midfielder Butcher only played a handful of games after arriving in January, but the Saints manager saw enough to know he had a real player.Wright realised the 22-year-old would take time to get his match fitness up but always sensed he would be an asset to the squad.“Everybody could see how good a player Matt Butcher was,” said Wright. “He is a player I was aware of but one who hadn’t played a lot of football.“My only concern was his fitness.
