Naman Ramachandran “Game of Thrones” prequel “House of the Dragon” debuted on HBO Max in Europe with the largest ever audience for any new series or movie on a HBO streaming service. The first episode went live on HBO Max in 21 European countries across the Nordics, Netherlands, Central Eastern Europe and Iberia at 3am CET on Monday. “The platform saw unprecedented demand starting in the early hours which peaked on Monday evening,” an HBO statement said. Viewing numbers were not provided. A spokesperson for HBO Max said: “ ‘House of the Dragon’ is by far the biggest launch in the history of HBO and HBO Max in Europe, breaking previous records for a new title. The number of viewers for the first episode exceeded all expectations.”

Hollywood’s Teamsters Local 399 has been granted the film and TV jurisdiction of Teamsters Local 492 in New Mexico following an investigation by the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT) and an audit of Local 492’s financial records. Effective immediately, Local 492 members working in the motion picture industry will become members of Local 399.

Kanye West will not be charged over a battery incident in Los Angeles earlier this year, where witnesses alleged that he struck a fan during an argument outside a nightclub.According to Variety, LAPD spokesperson Redina Puentes said the alleged incident took place outside of Soho Warehouse, a members-only club in downtown LA, in the early hours of January 13.Fox 11 broke the news earlier in the day, with sources saying a fan was allegedly struck by West after a heated exchange.Now, a spokesperson for Los Angeles City Attorney Mike Feuer said in a statement to Rolling Stone that West will not be charged.“Regarding the incident involving Kanye West that took place January 13, 2022, after a thorough and careful review of all the evidence,” they said, “our office is declining to file based on no reasonable likelihood of conviction.”In a televised report following the incident, journalist Gigi Graciette said: “A fan says he saw Kanye sitting in his car and walked up to the window to ask him for an autograph.“Words were exchanged – what those words are, well, that’s all part of the police investigation – but the fan told officers that Kanye jumped out of his car, called him some … words not suitable for television, and then punched him, knocking him to the ground.”Shortly after the news was aired, TMZ posted a video of West engaging in a heated exchange between two unknown figures in a public street.

TWICE’s leader Jihyo has tested positive for COVID-19 days out from the release of new mini-album ‘Between 1&2’, according to an announcement from JYP Entertainment.In a statement posted to TWICE’s fancafe earlier today (August 24), the agency announced that the vocalist had contracted the coronavirus, according to the results from a self-diagnosis antigen test the idol took.“Jihyo tested positive [after using a] self-diagnosis kit at 10:30am and is currently quarantined, following the guidelines from health department after testing positive for COVID-19 [through] antigen testing,” JYP Entertainment wrote in its statement. “We will prioritise our artist’s health and put our best effort [into] her quick and healthy recovery.”At the time of writing, JYP Entertainment has not revealed if any other TWICE members have tested positive for the virus.

Australia’s new defence minister Richard Marles has scrapped his predecessor Peter Dutton’s ban on “woke” events like LGBTQI morning teas organised by Australian Defence Force employees. Dutton, at present the Leader of the Opposition, had brought in the ban in May 2021 after the department held morning teas with staff wearing rainbow clothing to mark the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexphobia and Transphobia. Dutton, then the Defence Minister, had got Defence Force Chief Angus Campbell and Secretary Greg Moriarty  to issue a memo to ban such events. “Defence represents the people of Australia and must at all times be focused on our primary mission to protect Australia’s national security interests. We must not be putting effort into matters that distract from this,” the note read. A new note issued by Campbell and Moriarty on August 23, overturned the ban on the direction of deputy prime minister and defence minister Marles, reported The Australian.  “Each year we recognise events of significance and importance.

John Hopewell Chief International Correspondent Italy’s I Wonder Pictures has boarded Finnish comedy “The Player” as a co-producer ahead of its bow at Haugesund’s industry sidebar New Nordic Films.  The company will also handle local distribution. The project is directed by Teemu Nikki and produced by It’s Alive Films’ Jani Pösö.  “I consider Teemu Nikki as one of the best European directors. He is brilliant, prolific and always surprising,” Andrea Romeo, I Wonder Pictures’ general manager and head of acquisitions, told Variety.  “I think that his cinema will be increasingly appreciated in the world, as well as in Italy. His movies always talk about important issues, keeping a perfect balance between black comedy and auteur cinema. It’s also a great pleasure for us to work with a producer like Jani and a company as prestigious as It’s Alive Films.”

The move comes a month after SAG-AFTRA finalized and released a registry and pre-registry of accredited intimacy coordinators for film and television productions to use in nude and sexual scenes. SAG-AFTRA’s goal is to build the base of intimacy coordinators to a level that they will become available to all productions, and they are well on their way to becoming industry standard in Hollywood.

SAG-AFTRA’s national board has approved a resolution to create a path to membership for intimacy coordinators, who serve as advocates and liaisons between performers and productions when nudity and intimate scenes are being filmed.

SAG-AFTRA President Fran Drescher stood her ground during a contentious national board meeting on Saturday which saw a heated, two-hour debate over Covid-19 vaccination mandates. She took heat mostly, but not exclusively, from members of the Unite for Strength faction that supported her election last year.
