Rutherglen park Fernbrae Meadows shortlisted for national award

Cathkin Braes greenspace is among the finalists in the SURF awards, which showcase successful regeneration efforts of communities across Scotland.

Fernbrae Meadows is a former golf course, which had gone out of business and become derelict before being transformed into a new urban park.It attracts many visitors who love taking the opportunity to use the park for a range of healthy activities.The space boasts seating, trails, community growing areas and volunteering opportunities.Fernbrae Meadows will go head-to-head with New Cumnock in East Ayrshire and Argyll and Bute’s Campbeltown centre for the category’s crown.The judging panel will carry out virtual visits throughout this month to develop a better understanding of the finalists’ impact.
