Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the Supreme Court Justice who was a champion of gender equality, has sadly passed away at the age of 87.

The Supreme Court announced that Ginsburg died due to complications from pancreatic cancer, according to NPR. RBG‘s granddaughter Clara Spera says that she dictated this statement just days before her death: “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.” Ginsburg served on the Supreme Court for the past 27 years.

She knew that the winner of the 2020 presidential election will be the person to decide her replacement on the Supreme Court and she wants to make sure Trump does not try nominating someone in the next seven weeks leading up to the election.
