A repeat drug offender was caught with cannabis worth nearly £4000 in a bedroom at his Wishaw home.Police also seized thousands of pounds in cash which Stuart Cuthbertson protested was nothing to do with drug dealing.Cuthbertson appeared from custody via videolink at Hamilton Sheriff Court this week.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

They found Cuthbertson and his partner in a bedroom.Cannabis weighing almost a kilo was found inside a bag on top of a unit.

Officers also recovered sandwich bags and clingfilm.Cuthbertson stressed the cannabis belonged to him and his partner had no knowledge of it.The Crown wants to confiscate £3170 in cash that was seized during the search.However, defence agent Gavin Lawson said his client will contest this move, claiming that “some, if not most, of the money” belonged to his then partner.Sheriff Andrew McIntyre noted that Cuthbertson has two previous convictions for being concerned in the supply of drugs.One of those had resulted in a two-year jail stretch.The sheriff deferred sentence until next month for a criminal justice social work report.Cuthbertson,
