Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson Hon FRIBA (born 19 June 1964) is a British politician, writer, and former journalist serving as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom and Leader of the Conservative Party since 2019. He was Foreign Secretary from 2016 to 2018 and Mayor of London from 2008 to 2016. Johnson was Member of Parliament for Henley from 2001 to 2008 and has been MP for Uxbridge and South Ruislip since 2015. Ideologically, Johnson identifies as a one-nation conservative.

Renfrewshire politicians have joined forces to heap scorn on "lame duck" Prime Minister Boris Johnson, following a confidence vote in the Commons on Monday night.The UK premier clung to power after securing the support of 211 MPs during the Tory session.But some 148 of the UK's Tory MPs voted against him - leaving him with a bigger revolt than expected and presenting a backing slimmer than those clinched by past PMs Theresa May, John Major and 'Iron Lady' Margaret Thatcher, in challenges to their leadership.All three limped on but later succumbed to the inevitable and were ousted from their positions.But doubts over the PM's future remain after the vote revealed deep rifts in the party.Paisley and Renfrewshire North MP Gavin Newlands called for Mr Johnson to "pack his bags" in the wake of the vote, saying: "Boris Johnson experienced the worst result ever recorded by a sitting Prime Minister in a Tory leadership election, yet within minutes of the vote being announced was popping up on TV assuring us the result was a resounding endorsement of his position."His brass neck and relationship to the truth owes very little to the world of reality.
