A Tory MP took aim at the BBC following the confidence vote in Boris Johnson last night accusing them of making the Prime Minister "look like Hannibal Lecter".Adam Holloway, MP for Gravesham since 2005, appeared on Newsnight on Monday evening after the PM won his vote narrowly.
Tory MPs voted by 211 to 148 in support of Johnson as part of a confidence vote which has left him wounded. When Theresa May faced a confidence vote in 2018 she secured the support of 63% of her MPs but was still forced out within six months.
Johnson saw 41% of his MPs vote against him, a worse result than May.Holloway claimed Newsnight was biased and blamed the programme for the mess Johnson got himself in.
He said: "There is great damage to the reputation of politics and it should also do damage to organisations like the BBC. "This programme I am on now were showing pictures of him looking like Hannibal Lecter at the beginning."
