Recycling centres in Wigan will reopen today - with temporary lockdown rules in place. Council bosses say they want to help households who’ve accumulated excess waste during the lockdown.

All centres are reopening but residents are being told that they must observe social distancing measures. And residents are being warned not to all rush at once in order to reduce queuing times.

People could be asked to leave and return at a later time by council traffic officers if the queues become too long. Only single occupancy vehicles will be allowed entry - any commercial vehicles of any type or vehicle trailers will be refused.
