Rangers legend Walter Smith given 'sheer class' praise by Motherwell hero

Former Motherwell forward James McFadden has paid tribute to ex-manager Walter Smith after the Rangers legend's passing.It was announced on Tuesday morning that Smith had died at the age of 73.

He won 21 trophies over two stints as manager of Rangers.He was also Scotland boss between 2004-07, where McFadden worked with Smith.The Motherwell hero says Smith was someone with 'presence' and who deserves his iconic status. "It's a really tough day," McFadden told Sky Sports. "Walter is a guy who is synonymous with Rangers, but he's sheer class.

Legend is a term used far too often. "But he was above that, he really was. It wasn't just for Rangers, it was for the whole of Scottish football.
