Queen’s private chef will ‘never share’ monarch’s favourite dish for this key reason

Over the years royal insiders have given us an insight into what gets served on the Queen’s dinner table. Along with her gin and Dubonnet cocktails, our monarch enjoys classic dishes like grilled fish or chicken and steers clear of starchy food at lunchtime.

But one thing that will never be revealed is her favourite food - and for good reason. Robert Hardman, author of Queen of our Times: The Life of Elizabeth II , tells OK! : “The Queen’s private chef has never told anyone what her favourite dish is because he said if he spread the word, everyone would make it for her and she’d never get served anything else!” It’s a fair point - it’d make dinner time seriously dull.

But there are a few dishes Her Majesty enjoys every single day. Afternoon tea is a regular meal at the palace, including smoked salmon, ham and mustard or cucumber sandwiches cut finely on white bread with butter.

But here’s the weird part - the Queen’s former chef Graham Newbould said that during his time in the royal kitchen, she never ate sandwiches shaped with points.
