Having been pegged back against Burnley in midweek, the Old Trafford giants were first up to the plate as interim manager Ralf Rangnick and his team played Southampton this Saturday lunchtime.
But supporters ended 90 frustrating minutes with a familiar sense of deja vu. Jadon Sancho put United into the lead and the England forward continues to grow in confidence after his testing start to life in the Premier League - but the £72.9million signing from Borussia Dortmund proved to be a rare bright spark against the Saints.
Southampton frontman Che Adams responded and United missed out on two more points as a result. Arsenal were, meanwhile, able to put their feet up as London rivals Tottenham and West Ham were defeated by Wolves and Leicester City respectively on Sunday afternoon.
