Police Scotland has apologised for a ‘victim blaming’ social media post in light of the recent reports of spiking across the country.
The force wrote that drinking alcohol makes Scots ‘more vulnerable or prone to accidents’ and can also result in it being more difficult to “spot dangerous situations”.
Officers published the post on the Forth Valley Police Division page in response to recent spiking fears in Scottish nightclubs and bars.
A number of Scots women slammed the post and criticised it for ‘blaming the victims’ for getting their drinks spiked.Police have since removed the post and admitted that it should never have been published in the first place.
