Police probing blaze at ex Celtic chief Peter Lawwell's home still hunting fire thugs

Police are still hunting yobs who torched the home of former Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell. Three cars were set alight in the driveway of the property in Thorntonhall, Lanarkshire, which forced Lawwell and his family to flee the inferno.

The fire sparked a huge response from the emergency services and at one point eight fire engines were present. There were no injuries but the vehicles and garage were destroyed in an attack which was treated as wilful fire-raising.It is believed his daughter and her four-month old baby girl were sleeping above the garage area.Police later revealed a masked man had been spotted on CCTV outside the property pouring accelerant on vehicles shortly before flames broke out in May last year.But no arrests have been made despite an intensive investigation and an offer of a £20,000 reward for information from charity Crimestoppers.A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed no arrests had been made and enquiries were still ongoing.Speaking after the incident Lawwell, 62, who left Celtic in June last year after 17 year with the club, said: "This has been a devastating attack on myself and my family, the effects of which will stay with us all for a long time."I am, of course, extremely relieved that everyone is safe.
