Police said officers attended 'several gatherings' in Gorton today relating to a large funeral ceremony. Greater Manchester Police released a statement understood to refer to the funeral of Clive Pinnock.

Mr Pinnock, a 38-year-old dad, was riding a green Kawasaki motorbike on Hyde Road, Gorton, when it collided with a BMW on April 8.

Sadly, he suffered fatal injuries at the scene and died in hospital. Mr Pinnock's funeral was held earlier today. Images posted on Facebook and Twitter showed many dozens of people lining roads stood side-by-side as his funeral cortege passed by, apparently in the face of social distancing recommendations introduced as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
