A toddler was taken to hospital after falling from an upstairs window. West Midlands Police are investigating after the 18-month-old boy fell from the first floor of a property in Handsworth.

Officers were called to Wattville Road at about 1pm today, Friday, April 29. West Midlands Police confirmed a toddler had fallen from a height, Birmingham Live reports.

The child was taken to Birmingham Children’s Hospital by the ambulance service. Police said he escaped with bruising and was being checked for other injuries. A force spokeswoman told BirminghamLive: "An 18-month-old boy has been taken to hospital after falling from a first floor window at a property in Wattville Road, Birmingham around 1pm today, April 29. "The child has been left bruised, and is now being checked for any further injuries.
