Officers were called to reports that a white Ford Transit Flatbed on Plant Hill Road was being towed away by two unknown men on Thursday November 26 at around 10.45pm.

The stolen van is property of McGinley Support Services and contained two tubs storing a total of 12 railway track protection detonators, a GMP spokesperson said.

Investigators have established that while the items don’t pose a risk to the wider public, they are keen to ensure they recover the van and catch those responsible for the theft.

It is believed that a number of vehicles drove past the men while the incident was taking place and detectives are keen to speak to any witnesses who may have any information.
