Police watchdog probe fatal crash after man dies in collision with bus

Ayrshire. The collision took place at about 7.55pm on Saturday, November 28, 2020, on the B7023, around one mile south of the town of Maybole.Emergency services attended but the Audi driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Before the crash, police officers on mobile patrol had seen the vehicle in the South Ayrshire town's Kirkoswald Street and Culzean Road.

The Audi was last seen by the officers travelling at speed in Crosshill Road along the B7023 towards the scene of the collision.

The circumstances of the crash had been referred to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service (COPFS). The Police Investigations & Review Commissioner (PIRC) will investigate the actions of police leading up to the collision.
