Plans to demolish pub and build new flats thrown out – but it could still happen

Council planners ruled earlier this year that the three-storey apartment block proposed at the site on Liverpool Road would be 'bulky' and 'over-dominant'.

They said the 'poor' design 'fails to have regard to the context of the street'. The proposed development would also 'fail to provide future occupants of the apartments with a satisfactory level of amenity', the decision notice said.
