Peter Kay makes rare media appearance - and has Radio 2 listeners in stitches

Bolton funnyman made a rare appearance on radio this morning (Saturday January 2). The comic was a guest on Cat Deeley's debut BBC Radio 2 Saturday morning show, appearing just after 11am.

It is his first appearance on television or radio in more than eight months, after recording a special version of his classic Amarillo music video for BBC's Big Night In, back in April 2020.

Kay was in great form as he joked with Deeley about her midlands pronunciation of Mamma Mia and being 'sick' of having to send 'cut and paste' Happy New Years texts.He also created a playlist of 'bad' songs and invited the presenter to give the name of the 'song, not the artist' in a subtle nod to Phoenix Nights.His appearance on Deeley's show was greeted with delight.
