Personality Crisis: One Night Only, directed by Martin Scorsese and David Tedeschi, is a documentary that follows punk pioneer David Johansen, which premiered at NYFF60. The film follows Johansen, who, during his residency in New York City in 2020, gave a detailed account of his life, how he navigated the music scene from the 1970s up to the present day, and why music is integral to his existence. 

John Hopewell Chief International Correspondent YouTube Originals will launch on Nov. 18 “Behind the Beats,” a novel animated pop music anthology series produced by France’s TeamTO and 22D Music Group in partnership with France Télévisions, the French public broadcaster.  Episodes 1-4 of the novel history of pop will also debut on the YouTube Kids app, YouTube Originals Kids & Family announced on Wednesday. YouTube and TeamTO have shared first-look images from the series in exclusivity with Variety.  The deal sees YouTube launching the series worldwide but with a one-year holdback in the French language, where France Télévisions has first-window exclusivity. 

A new punk museum is set to open in Las Vegas. Which is a bit depressing, isn’t it? Even if it is a project led by NOFX frontman Mike ‘Fat Mike’ Burkett.Originally conceived as a retail unit that would display various artefacts that Burkett has collected over the years, the venture has since ballooned into the 12,000 square foot Punk Rock Museum, which will officially open its doors in the new year. Among the items on show will be Debbie Harry’s Vultures t-shirt – once described as “a sacred relic” by Blondie guitarist Chris Stein – and Devo’s energy dome helmets.But there will be plenty more besides those.

He was 59. Coolio, born Artis Leon Ivey Jr., also had hits with “Fantastic Voyage” and “1,2,3,4 (Sumpin’ New)” and “It’s All the Way Live (Now).” Among those who remembered Coolio on social media were “Weird Al” Yankovic, who was involved in a feud with the rapper when he released the song “Amish Paradise.” They later mended fences. Ice Cube, Questlove, Debbie Harry, Martin Lawrence and M.C. Hammer also paid tribute to the L.A. musician.

Coolio has died. The “Gangsta’s Paradise” rapper’s longtime manager, Jarez, confirmed the tragic news to TMZ on Wednesday. Coolio was 59.

Blondie's gig was once interrupted by an "entire firing squad". The group were performing at iconic New York nightspot CBGB in the 1970s when the show was suddenly interrupted, and they suspect it was partly to make a video of their gig look even "better".
