'People were having a good time... but you were not in a festive mood': Christmas Day argument ended in a screwdriver attack
manchestereveningnews.co.ukhereThe couple argued, and Hordejuk also had a row with another man, a friend of his mother's.The argument 'escalated' and Hordejuk pulled out a screwdriver, prosecutor Peter Gilmour said.Hordejuk 'repeatedly' hit him to the head with it.The victim later went to hospital, but he only suffered 'relatively minor' injuries including grazes to his scalp.After being arrested, Hordejuk denied using a screwdriver and claimed any blows he may have struck would have been in self defence.The victim's DNA was found on the tip of the screwdriver.Hordejuk initially pleaded not guilty, but later admitted an offence of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.The court heard Hordejuk has previous convictions in his native Poland, but has no criminal record.
