Buddies of all ages are being invited to scrum on down to the Anchor and try their hand at rugby. While Scotland welcome France to Murrayfield tomorrow afternoon in their latest Six Nations clash, Paisley Rugby Club are hoping to inspire more Renfrewshire sport lovers to fall in love with rugby at their home ground in the town. The beginners’ session, which begins at 11.45am and runs until 2pm, is totally free. And the club’s community engagement officer Paul Gilligan hopes it can help entice even more people to join the club and enjoy the game.He told Express Sport: “The last two years, we’ve been trying to expand rugby in the area.“We’ve launched a very successful women and girls’ section, who are now playing competitively, as well as an under-13 squad, who just had their first ever game a few weekends ago.“We now cover all age groups and genders right the way up from P1, with a lot of our under-13s squad first getting involved at our last beginners’ session last summer.“When I joined the club as a player, I didn’t even know Paisley had a rugby team or where they played.“There will be touch and non-contact play on Saturday and rugby is so inclusive now.“It really is open to all ages and all abilities.“The Scotland game will be on in the clubhouse afterwards too, so feel free to stick around afterwards and watch it with us.“I always say to our younger players there’s nothing to stop them going on to play for Scotland one day themselves.”Attendees can either sign up on the day or in advance at www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/rugby-beginners-day-tickets-265942770987
