Paisley charity sets up walking football group to help bring back residents' memories

A walking football group is kicking off in Paisley to give a health boost to people living in the town.Roar Connection for Life, a Renfrewshire charity that provides older people with the chance to maintain independence and be socially active, was successful in getting funding to start the group which will start on Friday, September 2 at Paisley’s Powerleague Anchor Grounds.Gillian Thomson, club and volunteer coordinator at Roar, said: “I originally worked for Glasgow Life and I was aware how popular the walking football groups were within Glasgow."They were well attended, whereas in Renfrewshire there are only two walking football groups - St Mirren's and one in Johnstone.
