Over a dozen mice found abandoned in plastic containers on Scots farm

A probe has been launched after more than a dozen pet mice were found dumped in plastic containers at a Scots farm. The 13 rodents were discovered by a local near Campend Farm in Dalkeith, Midlothian on Friday who raised the alarm to animal welfare bosses.

Now the Scottish SPCA have taken the animals into a rehoming centre and warned domesticated mice would not survive in the wild.

Scottish SPCA senior animal rescue officer Mel Maitland said, “The mice are all domesticated pet mice.“They were contained in two plastic crates when they were found.“There are eight male mice and five female mice in total.“Thankfully, they appear to be unharmed and have been taken to one of our animal rescue and rehoming centres to be given the proper care
