NHS 24 sees spike in callers in Scotland with suicidal thoughts during lockdown

She told Holyrood's Health Committee there were "much higher levels of anxiety within the population". She added the "root cause" of this was "a mixture of economic worries through furlough or job loss, family and relationship stresses and strains, if not triggered by lockdown then certainly exacerbated by lockdown".She went on to say there was a "a higher level than usual, I am very sorry to say, of people with suicidal thoughts".Foster described that as a "very discernible and alarming trend".Before the Covid-19 pandemic NHS24 dealt with.
