New Covid deaths in UK rises by 17 - the lowest daily number since late September

The Department of Health recorded 17 further deaths in the last 24 hours, bringing the UK total to 126,172, and 5,342 new cases of coronavirus.

Today's daily death toll is the lowest it has been since September 28, when 13 deaths were recorded over a 24 hour period. Additional data, including separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies, shows there have now been more than 149,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.
