New benefit rules on claiming Universal Credit and ESA at same time

The Department for Work and Pensions has set out new rules for those hoping to claim Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) Universal Credit at the same time.

Many people are looking for extra sources of money as the Universal Credit boost comes to an end after 18 months. The Chancellor's Autumn Budget promised an extra £1,000 a year from a lower taper rate and higher work allowance to help those on Universal Credit and working a job. Those on Universal Credit can also claim New Style Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) if they're ill or have a health condition or disability that limits their ability to work.
