Netflix‘s Bad Vegan: Fame. Fraud. Fugitives is the latest addition to the growing list of true crime docu-series on the streaming platform.
The four-part series arrived on Wednesday (March 16). Here’s a plot summary: “Sarma Melngailis, the celebrity restaurateur behind the New York hotspot Pure Food and Wine, went from being the queen of vegan cuisine to the tabloid-touted ‘Vegan Fugitive’ when she falls for a man who promises to make her dreams come true.
Millions of dollars, immortal dogs, meat suits, and secrets lead to a twisted tale of love turned criminal.” The series’ director Chris Smith and executive producer Ryann Fraser opened up in an interview with Variety about how she actually feels about the series.
