A mum-of-two from Wigan has praised Iceland for helping families with free food amid the cost of living crisis. Zoe Riley received not one, but two free items in her online shopping order, just because they were short dated.

The 33-year-old shared her bargain on the Yellow Sticker Society Facebook group, where shoppers often share their bargains and reduced food finds, writing: “Some freebies on my Iceland online shop today.” The picture showed a pack of four quarter pounder beef burgers and maple BBQ pork loin steaks which had been reduced in her order.

Yellow stickers displayed the original price of £3.85, which was reduced to £2.50. However a second sticker read: “This product is FREE as it’s short dated.” READ MORE:Iceland shoppers ‘can’t stop eating’ meatballs that are ‘exactly like IKEA’ Zoe, who lives in Billinge, told the Manchester Evening News : “This is my first Iceland order in around a year as I have an Asda delivery pass but needed loads of ice lollies which are cheaper there.

I was placing a big shop which was £72, which is a typical weekly shop as we are a family of four, including two adults, a six and a two year old.” The mum had ordered the burgers and loins - worth £7.70 - but bagged them for free as Iceland deemed them short dated.
