Motherwell boss Stuart Kettlewell insists he will continue to work tirelessly to bolster his paper-thin squad. The Steelmen endured a difficult winter break in which Mika Biereth and Brodie Spencer were recalled from their loan spells, Callum Slattery was ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury, while Connor Wilkinson and Pape Souare headed for the Fir Park exit door.Kettlewell handed debuts to his January signings Adam Montgomery and Andy Halliday as his side defeated Alloa 3-1 to reach the fifth round of the Scottish Cup.They still appear short on numbers however, naming seven academy graduates on their substitutes bench against Alloa and having just one fully-fit striker available for selection."There are probably a few areas on the pitch that we without question have to bring in a few players in," Kettlewell said."We are working tirelessly on it - it's not as simple that i just click my fingers at a player and they appear in a Motherwell jersey."Everyone can see we are threadbare, I've got six 17-year-olds on the bench, all of which had played in a youth game the day before."The Well boss hopes that the signing of Halliday will help to set the way for further players to join the ranks at the club - explaining the midfielder turned down offers from other Premiership teams before joining from Hearts."Andy Halliday has come in here with a real burning desire to come to the football club," he added."I think there was better offers on the table from other clubs in the division."We've had a lot of disappointment in the last couple of weeks by speaking to players but the search continues and I still feel we are in a reasonable position with one or two that I think will help us moving along."Follow
