Dickerson co-wrote some of War’s most enduring hits, including “Low Rider,” “Why Can’t We Be Friends?” and “Summer.” He also provided vocals on some songs, including singing lead on 1972’s “The World is a Ghetto.” Dickerson recorded 12 albums with War before his departure from the band in 1979.
