manchestereveningnews.co.ukA man was brutally attacked by a masked gang who then hurled an 'unknown substance' into his face, police have revealed. A major police investigation is now underway in Rochdale.
The horror attack - in which the man was taken to hospital - happened on West Street, at its junction with Yorkshire Street just outside the town centre.
Emergency services raced to the scene at 6.40pm on Saturday evening. In an update on Sunday, Greater Manchester Police confirmed the 27-year-old victim, who hasn't been named, was taken to hospital.
