The consumer champion made the plea in the latest issue of the Money Saving Expert newsletter where he warned of a looming “crisis” because the wholesale cost of energy has hit its highest in three years.
The financial journalist wrote: ”A fortnight ago we told you wholesale rates - those energy firms pay - were at a three-year high.
They dipped a smidgeon after that, but they've risen again.” He encouraged all energy bill payers to check for better deals and switch suppliers if they can.Martin advised consumers to check now as we head into summer to soften the blow of winter heating bills and prevent overpaying on current.
