Man rushed to hospital after Larbert house explosion as fire crews tackle flames

One man has been taken to hospital after a massive explosion ripped through a house in Larbert.Emergency services were called to the scene on Broomage Crescent, near Falkirk, at around 1.40pm on Saturday.

More than a dozen Scottish Fire and Rescue Service vehicles remain in attendance with a large police cordon put in place. Members of the public have been urged to stay away while first responders deal with the ongoing incident.The injured man has been taken to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment however his current condition is not known.Local residents reported hearing a ‘loud bang’ shortly before the flames took hold.Worrying pictures from the scene show thick black smoke billowing from the terraced house after the roof of the property collapsed.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.40pm on Saturday, 26 February, police were called to reports of an explosion at a property on Broomage Crescent, Larbert."Emergency services are at the scene and a number of nearby buildings have been evacuated."One man has been taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary by ambulance for treatment."We would advise people to avoid the area at this time for their own safety and to allow enquiries to continue."
