A man found collapsed and unresponsive in a car has sadly died in hospital, police have confirmed. He is understood to be aged in his 50s.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed the man's death was not being treated as suspicious. Police and paramedics were called to Deansgate in Manchester city centre at around 4pm on Wednesday.

A section of the road close to the Hilton Hotel and the junction with Liverpool Road was sealed off by GMP. North West Ambulance Service said the man, who hasn't been named, was taken to Manchester Royal Infirmary.

Police confirmed he passed away there later. No further details have been revealed. A file of evidence is due to be passed to a coroner ahead of possible inquest hearings.
