Manchester City will break new ground in the Champions League quarter-finals after being drawn against Atletico Madrid. The Blues have never faced the Spanish side before, but will take them on at the Etihad Stadium in the first leg and at the Wanda Metropolitano in the second leg.
The two legs come either side of the Premier League showdown with Liverpool. If the Blues get through, they could get a chance to avenge last season's final defeat, as they will face the winners of the last eight tie between Chelsea and Real Madrid in the semi-final.
City lost to the Londoners in Porto last season despite starting as firm favourites. Atletico are the reigning Spanish champions and made it into the quarter-finals by dumping out Manchester United in the last 16, following a 1-1 draw at home by winning 1-0 at Old Trafford last week.
But Atletico have been having a difficult season domestically, sitting in fourth place, 15 points behind leaders and cross-city rivals Real Madrid.
