Manchester City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak has confirmed that the club have commissioned work on a statue outside the Etihad to honour Colin Bell, Mike Summerbee and Francis Lee.

A stature of Sergio Aguero was unveiled earlier this month, completing a trilogy of pieces from artist Andy Scott that also include Vincent Kompany and David Silva in honour of the most successful period in the club's history.

And, as M.E.N Sport revealed back in October, the club have decided to also mark the contributions from a previous golden era.

While there is no timeframe on when the work will be completed, the chairman did offer up in his annual interview with club media that the process was now underway to pay tribute to another beloved City trio. "We’ve had the statues of Vincent Kompany, David Silva and Sergio Aguero,” he said. “These three reflect the most successful era in the history of this club.
