Lorry crashes into railway bridge in Dundee as man reported to Procurator Fiscal

A man has been reported to the Procurator Fiscal after a lorry collided with a railway bridge in Dundee.Emergency services were alerted to the collision on St Vincent Street, in Broughty Ferry, at around 9.10am on Saturday, April 30.Network Rail Scotland shared images showing a partly crushed lorry weighing over seven tonnes stuck under a railway bridge.Police confirmed the incident has been cleared and one man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with road traffic offences.

A Network Rail spokesperson said: “Earlier this morning, a 7.5 tonne lorry struck the railway bridge over St Vincent Street in Broughty Ferry.“Train services remained running in both directions with a temporary speed restriction of 20mph in place over the bridge for safety reasons while the bridge was inspected a Network Rail engineer.“The bridge has since been inspected the bridge and no safety concerns have been identified.

As a result, the temporary speed restriction has now been removed and train services are running as planned.” A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 9.10am on Saturday, April 30, police were called to the St Vincent Street area of Broughty Ferry, following a report of a van colliding with a rail bridge. “The area was cleared around 11.20am and one man will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with road traffic offences.” Don't miss the latest news from around Scotland and beyond - Sign up to our daily newsletter here .
