Layton Williams has said farewell to his BBC role as he prepares to make his debut on Strictly Come Dancing. The 28-year old actor has signed up to star in the 21st series of the popular dance contest in a bid to take home the Glitterball trophy.

The West End star, who will make history on the show as he will appear in traditional male outfits as well as dresses, will compete against the likes of Love Island's Zara McDermott, Waterloo Road's Adam Thomas and EastEnders' Bobby Brazier alongside their professional dance partners.

This Saturday (Sept 16), Strictly fans will finally get to see which celebrity has been paired with which professional, as the pre-recorded launch show airs on BBC One.

The famous theme tune will ring out in living rooms at 6.35pm as the new contestants take their place on the ballroom floor, with the much-anticipated episode finishing at 8.20pm.
