Lanarkshire families urged to apply for child payment as funding is extended

Over 8000 families in South Lanarkshire make use of a child payment initiative.The stats were revealed as more families in the region were urged to take up the payment, which has just increased from £20 to £25 per week per eligible child.

Eligibility for the payment, which is only available in Scotland, now includes families with children under the age of 16 after the age limit was previously for children under the age of 6.

It is forecast that a further 300,000 children across the country will be eligible following the recent extension, and Rutherglen MSP Clare Haughey has called for locals to take advantage if they can.
