Anne Darwin may have claimed she was coerced into helping her husband fake his own death in a canoe, but a series of racy emails between the pair prove they were both planning their new future together in Panama.
The filthy exchanges came to light after Anne and husband John, the subjects of this week's ITV drama The Thief, His Wife and the canoe, were caught and put on trial for their crimes.
John paddled out to sea in 2002 and left Anne to play the grieving widow, lying to even her own sons so that the couple could cash out his £250,000 life insurance policy.
John then hid in the bedsit next door which the pair owned, sleeping in the marital with his wife before jetting out to Cyprus and Spain to hunt for properties for them to settle down in, away from the glare of suspicion.They eventually decided on Panama as their new home, and it was while John was waiting on his other half to join him in South America that the raunchy emails were sent.One of the filthy messages, which was sent four days before Anne flew out to Panama, saw her bombard John with typed out kisses.The softly spoken former doctors' receptionist spoke of her excitement to be reunited with her hubby and said that she loved him, writing: "Bye for now.
