Injured man rescued from river near Manchester city centre
manchestereveningnews.co.ukAn injured man was rescued from a river on the outskirts of Manchester city centre this evening (Monday). Emergency services were scrambled to the stretch of the River Medlock off Pin Mill Brow at around 6pm.
A man had fallen into the water and suffered back injuries meaning he was unable to get out. Police, paramedics and fire crews were all pictured at the scene close to where the road becomes Great Ancoats Street.
The man, who was sat in the water when crews arrived, was taken to safety before being assessed by paramedics. It is unclear if he was taken to hospital. READ MORE:LIVE updates: Huge emergency services response amid reports of person in difficulty in water in Stalybridge A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue (GMFRS) said: “At around 6pm on Monday 15 August, firefighters were called out to Pin Mill Brow, Manchester to reports of an injured person stuck in the River Medlock. “Three fire engines from Eccles, Phillips Park and Gorton attended the scene where a man had fallen over in the water and was unable to get out after suffering from back injuries.
He was sat in the water when emergency services arrived. “Police officers were able to help him out and he is being assessed by North West Ambulance Service.
