Hundreds of people have gathered in Manchester to protest against the death of a black man restrained by police in America. The Black Lives Matter demonstration on Sunday afternoon was organised after George Floyd died while being detained by officers in Minneapolis.

Protesters, who marched along Market Street, St Ann's Square and Peter Street, could be heard chanting 'black lives matter'.

Many held placards bearing the same slogan. Other slogans included 'Justice for George Floyd' and 'The UK is not innocent' - a reference to alleged police brutality in the UK.
