House evacuated after toaster triggers blaze in Fallowfield home

Fallowfield shortly after 9am on Tuesday morning (September 1) to reports of a house fire. Firefighters used breathing apparatus and ventilation equipment to bring the fire under control and nearby residents were advised to stay indoors with their windows closed.A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At 9.18am on Tuesday, 1 September, three fire engines from Moss Side, Withington and Gorton were called to reports of a fire at a house on Redruth Street, in Fallowfield.“The fire involved a toaster."Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, a hose reel and a positive pressure ventilation unit to bring the fire under control.“Fire crews were at the scene for just under one hour.”According to GMFRS, most house.
