A former firefighter said that he was "made to feel like a criminal" in Home Bargains after staff told him that he was not allowed to use his own carrier bags instead of trolleys or baskets when shopping in the store.

Paul Jones had visited the store on December 19 to pick up cough medicine and and lozenges. Since the pandemic began Paul, aged 66 and from Llandudno, Wales, had always taken in his own carrier bags as he does not want to use the trolleys or store shopping baskets as he feels safer using his own bags.

North Wales Live reports that he said up until yesterday, no employees in any of the other places he has shopped at has had an issue with him using his own bags.
