David Hiscott, of Greenmount, was determined to walk the four-and-a-half miles to the monument and back to raise money for equipment to help future stroke patients.

The 51-year-old was left paralysed down his left side following a stroke caused by a brain haemorrhage in December 2017. He was a fit and active 48-year-old at the time, having regularly taken on fitness challenges like cycling up Mount Snowdon.
