Hamish, the first polar bear cub to be born in the UK for a quarter of a century, is set to leave Scotland for a new life south of the border.
He will move from where he currently lives with his mother Victoria at the Highland Wildlife Park near Kingussie to Yorkshire Wildlife Park’s Project Polar habitat in the autumn after a recommendation from the European Endangered Species Programme.Born in December 2017, Hamish currently shares an enclosure with his mother and is now bigger than her and keepers say it is now the right time for him to leave.Over the past two years he's become a firm favourite with visitors and animal lovers across the UK.Rachel Williams, senior animal keeper at Highland Wildlife Park, explained that in the wild, polar.
