Gladiators audience member gives birth on set as she watches show live

As Gladiators returns for its brand-new reboot on BBC, viewers are very excited to see what’s going to happen as members of the public go up against the elite - athletes, bodybuilders, weightlifters, and even world record holders.The contestants will go against Gladiators in classic games such as Hang Tough, The Wall, Powerball and Duel from the original series as well as new games in the hope of getting to the final - but it won’t be easy for them.

Usually all of the drama is confined to the tournament, but while filming was underway, there was one audience member who grabbed everyone’s attention. “One lady in the audience, her waters broke during filming.

She gave birth there,” says Barney Walsh, 26. “So we had a Gladiators baby!” “That’s absolutely true that actually did happen!” insists Bradley Walsh, 63.There was also a contestant, Finlay Burkitt, who appears in episode one, who the audience took a liking to. “For Finn to come back after the injury, it was unbelievable,” teases Bradley.

Bradley and Barney Walsh who host the show say that there were people of all ages in the live audience as filming commenced. “We saw that in the arena when the families were bringing the kids and they were excited to see all of the Gladiators and get their signatures,” says Barney. “I think the beauty of us doing it as a pair is that it’s a complete generational thing.
