TV's George Alagiah is taking a break from presenting the BBC's Six O'Clock News after scans showed his cancer has spread. The newsreader - who has fronted the bulletin since 2003 - said he is dealing with "some tough stuff".
The 66-year-old was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer in 2014 and stepped back from broadcasting in October last year. George returned to the BBC News At Six in April this year, eight years to the day he learnt he had cancer.
He said today: "A recent scan showed that my cancer has spread further so it’s back to some tough stuff. "I’m missing my colleagues.

The newsreader underwent 17 rounds of chemotherapy after he was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2014.
