Garden Rescue star Charlie Dimmock’s forgotten soap role from 20 years ago – and why it didn’t last long

CHARLIE Dimmock may be best known for her appearances on Ground Force and more recently Garden Rescue. But one appearance fans may have forgotten is the TV gardener's cameo on Channel 4 soap Hollyoaks 20 years ago.

In 2002, the gardening expert flexed her acting chops in an episode of Hollyoaks that centred around the opening of Chester's Jubilee Garden.

Speaking about her soap cameo at the time, Charlie told The Evening Standard it had been "great fun and certainly a different experience to my normal job." However, a soap career wasn't on the cards for Charlie who said she wanted to "stick" to what she knew - gardening.

She added: "I don't think I'll be making any career changes just yet. I'll stick to what I know and love best: gardening." At the time, Charlie was starring on Ground Force alongside Alan Titchmarsh and Tommy Walsh.
